At Smart Start Childcare and Learning Center our mission is to enhance the traditional childcare experience through education, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, illness reduction and prevention and creative projects that promote a healthy, happy and secure learning environment.
Our vision is health and wellness; caring for the whole child (mind, body, and spirit)
Mind: Learning, growth, development, creativity...
Body: Health, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, hygiene, cleanliness, illness prevention...
Spirit: Love, compassion, self-esteem, safe, nurturing, unique, important, empowered...
And our goal is to supply each child with the foundation and necessary tools to make Smart decisions now in his/her early years and throughout his/her life through the focus on the social, intellectual, emotional and physical development of each individual child.
Smart Start bases our activities on best practices and continuous improvement. Please contact us to learn more about the health and wellness activities conducted at the center.
The owner of Smart Start Childcare and Learning Center, Gina Anderson, is a registered nurse. She graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in 2002 with her Bachelors Degree in Nursing, after which, she worked in a variety of hospital and clinic settings. A year after graduation, Gina left Minnesota to pursue a travel nursing opportunity – a highlight of her career. She spent several years in the Boston and San Diego areas. After traveling, Gina returned to Minnesota where she worked as a nurse manager at a large orthopaedic clinic in the cities and then began a career in the medical device industry as a nurse manager and as a nurse educator.
Gina currently lives in Stillwater with her husband, Ryan, and two daughters, Taylor and Jordan. She has combined her love for family, her connection with children and her interest in health and wellness to create a unique childcare center that puts focus on quality through safety, education, and health and wellness for children.
As a mother, a registered nurse and the owner of Smart Start Childcare and Learning Center, Gina designed the environment to feel safe, secure, clean, neat, organized, happy and comfortable. Focus is on the whole child (mind, body and spirit). And, as Smart Start’s mission states, daily activities are centered on education, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, illness prevention and creative projects that enhance a healthy, happy and secure learning environment. In addition to safety and education, the priority is on health and wellness for children.
Gina is trained in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.
In an effort to exceed the mission and vision of the center, Smart Start Childcare and Learning Center partners with local physicians, healthcare providers and professionals to bring educational experiences and opportunities to the children and families at Smart Start.
